Soldering Irons

Soldering Irons

Soldering tools are used to melt metals, in order to connect components through a soft-soldering process, using tin solder for example. Hard soldering connections are firmer, but they can only be produced using special soldering tools that reach a temperature of at least 450 °C. There is a distinction between electric and gas-heated soldering irons. Gas-powered soldering irons generally reach a higher temperature so they can also be used for soldering with higher heat dissipation. Individual devices are more mobile than soldering stations - little larger than a pen - and they are easy to transport. Soldering tips can also be quickly changed for specific applications. Soldering irons are predominantly used for repair work, for manual assembly of circuit boards or for soldering together parts of a model.
