The new TSN-1 series step-down switching regulators are a drop-in replacement for the inefficient 79xx series linear regulators. A high efficiency of up to 96% enables full load operation up to an ambient temperature of +70°C (+85°C with derating) without the need for a heat sink or forced air cooling.
