The TL16C452FN is a single-channel asynchronous communications element (ACE) with a Centronix-type parallel-port interface. It provides serial-to-parallel conversion for data received from a peripheral device or modem and parallel-to-serial conversion for data transmitted by a CPU. The parallel interface offers a bidirectional port that conforms to Centronix-type printer standards. The CPU can read status information at any time, including modem signals (CTS, DSR, RLSD, RI), transmitter and receiver states, data errors, and printer status. The TL16C452FN also provides control over modem signals (RTS, DTR), interrupt enables, baud rate programming, and parallel-port control signals.
