Octal D-type Transparent Latches, SN74LS373N, Texas Instruments
This 8-bit register features a 3-state output designed specifically for driving a highly capacitive or relatively low-impedance load. The high-impedance 3-state and increased high-logic-level drive provide this register with the capability of being connected directly to and driving a bus line in a bus-organized system without need for interface or pullup components. This device is particularly attractive for implementing a buffer register, I/O port, bidirectional bus driver, and working register. The latch of the SN74LS373N is a transparent D-type latch, meaning that while the enable (C or CLK) input is high, the Q output follows the data (D) input. When C or CLK is taken low, the output is latched at the level of the data that was set up.
