Octal D flip-flop, PDIP-20, Texas Instruments SN74F374N
Octal D-Type Edge-Triggered D-Type Flip-Flop, SN74F374N, Texas Instruments
This 8-bit flip-flop features 3-state output designed specifically for driving highly capacitive or relatively low-impedance load. It is particularly suitable for implementing buffer register, I/O port, bidirectional bus driver, and working register. The flip-flop of the ´F374 is an edge-triggered D-type flip-flop. On the positive transition of the clock (CLK) input, the Q output is set to the logic level that was set up at the data (D) input. A buffered output enable () input can be used to place the output in either a normal logic state (high or low) or a high-impedance state.
In the high-impedance state, the output neither loads nor drives the bus line significantly. The high-impedance state and the increased drive provide the capability to drive bus line without need for interface or pullup component. The output enable () input does not affect internal operation of the flip-flop. Old data can be retained or new data can be entered while the output is in the high-impedance state.
