The SN65HVD230DR controller area network (CAN) transceiver is compatible with the ISO 11898-2 High-Speed CAN Physical Layer standard. It is designed for data rates up to 1 Mbps and includes multiple protection features to enhance device and CAN network robustness. The SN65HVD230DR is intended for use with 3.3 V µPs, MCUs, and DSPs with CAN controllers, or with equivalent protocol controller devices, in applications employing the CAN serial communication physical layer according to ISO 11898. Designed for harsh environments, the SN65HVD230DR features cross-wire protection, loss-of-ground and overvoltage protection, overtemperature protection, and a wide common-mode operating range. As the CAN physical layer, the SN65HVD230DR interfaces a single-ended host CAN protocol controller with the differential CAN bus used in industrial, building automation, and automotive applications. It operates over a -2 V to 7 V common-mode range on the bus and can withstand common-mode transients of ±25 V.
