Current clamps are ideally suited for current measurement in electrical systems and control cabinets, since only individual wires are passed through the clamp jaws for non-contact current measurement and no electrical connections have to be cut. This method also makes it possible to measure very high currents, which would overload any commercially available multimeter if they were connected directly.
