This product is equipped with a duo-color green/red backlight. The backlight includes two separate LED paths that can be connected in parallel to match the system voltage. This allows the backlight to be operated at 3.3 V or at a higher supply voltage. To drive the backlight, we recommend using a constant-current source (e.g., CAT4238TD) or an external resistor to limit the current. The required resistor value can be calculated using R = U / I; corresponding values are provided in the adjacent table. For maximum lifetime, a current source is preferred. The typical operating life of the green/red backlight is 100,000 hours.
