The ADUM1301ARWZ is a triple-channel digital isolator based on the Analog Devices iCoupler technology. Combining high speed CMOS and monolithic transformer technology, this isolation component provides outstanding performance characteristics superior to alternatives, such as optocouplers. By avoiding the use of LEDs and photodiodes, the iCoupler device removes the design difficulty commonly associated with optocouplers. The typical optocoupler concern regarding uncertain current transfer ratio, nonlinear transfer function, and temperature and lifetime effect is eliminated with the simple iCoupler digital interface and stable performance characteristic. The need for an external driver and other discrete component is eliminated with this iCoupler product. Furthermore, the iCoupler device consumes one-tenth to one-sixth of the power of an optocoupler at a comparable signal data rate.
