Wirewound Resistors

Wirewound Resistors

The typical format of a wired resistor is cylindrical and provided with axial connection wires. In contrast to the SMD version, where the resistors are soldered on to the surface of the circuit board, these wired resistor are inserted through holes in the circuit board and soldered to the respective tracks. Wired resistors are produced in various different versions. Film resistors, metal film resistors and wire resistors all have a solid body of ceramic or other temperature-resistant material. They differ merely in the resistive material, which is applied by various different processes. These determine not only the quality of the resistor, i.e. its precision, but also its temperature resistance and its resistance to environmental influences.
