The Wireless Access Point enables wireless access to a machine or system. This wireless transmission can be performed via WLAN Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy in different operating modes. For example, a tablet or smartphone can be used to access the control system of a machine via a radio connection. The device can also be configured to integrate a machine or system into an existing wireless network (e.g., WLAN network) as a client.

In this gateway mode, the device is used as a cable substitute to create a robust, industry-proven Bluetooth® or WLAN link between two automation devices.
