The TAE connection is used primarily in Germany for analogue telephone connections. The jacks and plugs are known for their unusual six-pin shape. Equipped with a corresponding cable and Western plug, these cables allow older telephones to be connected directly to the telephone line. Strictly speaking, this is a TAE-F plug. In contrast, connection cables with TAE-N plugs primarily connect slave devices such as modems or answering or fax machines. ISDN devices are connected with corresponding connecting cables for fast data transfer.
