Semiconductor sockets and crystal sockets

Integrated circuits, referred to as ICs, are often soldered directly on to circuit boards. This does however pose the risk that these high-quality and sometime expensive components may be damaged, due for instance to high temperatures encountered during the soldering process. Special holders assist in mounting these elements quickly and securely. In this way microchips can be installed on IC holders without soldering. They are proof against vibration and can be easily replaced as required. DIMM holders ensure secure retention and optimum data transmission for memory modules in computers. Oscillating crystals, referred to as oscillators, which are incorporated in virtually all transmission systems, can also be mounted on specific holders on circuit boards.
