Sealing compounds and casting compounds have many applications in the automotive and electronics industries. Silicones are particularly resistant to oil. They can also be used for gluing oil pumps, sumps, gearbox covers or thermostat housings. Silicone rubber protects electric components against corrosion and they can be used to cover and insulate components. Polyurethane resins specially developed for electrical engineering also have protective properties and they are used for reels, heating elements and batteries.
