One-way flow restrictors

One-way flow restrictors

A one-way flow restrictor is characterised by allowing a fluid to flow in one direction but using a closing element to prevent flow in the other. This element, either a sphere, a cone, a flap, or a membrane, depending on design, mechanically allows flow in one direction. If the flow direction reverses, the restrictor functions as a barrier when the closing element is pressed into its seat. One-way flow restrictors are used for control functions in hydraulics and pneumatics, among other applications.
