Magnetic proximity switches

The operating principle of the magnetic proximity switch is based on its reaction to a magnetic field, which the switch can detect without coming into contact with it. Technical requirements for the functioning of this sensor type include the presence of a permanent magnet which, depending on switching mode, can be located at varying distances from the switch in question. One such practical effect is the touchless switching (opening or closing) of a reed switch. The robust sensors have the advantage of being able to function under difficult conditions such as heat, dust, and vibration – and perform their detection through non-ferromagnetic objects.
