Inductive proximity switches

Inductive proximity switches are used to reliably detect conductive metals of call kinds. Like all proximity switches, they are robust, resistant to contamination, and easy to use. Electrically connected proximity switches emit an electromagnetic field generated by an oscillator in the scanning direction. If a metallic object approaches, it draws energy from the proximity switch’s oscillating circuit, reducing internal oscillator voltage. After a pre-determined switching interval, this, in turn triggers a binary signal that becomes available for further processing at the proximity switch’s output. Thus the damping of the oscillating circuit is evaluated. The switching interval serves as a quality criterion: The greater the interval, the more powerful the switch.
