FOC patch cable

FOC patch cable

Often called a fibre optic cable, these cables transport light in fibres made of fused quartz or plastic. The construction is a simple as it is effective: The glass fibres in the inner core are surrounded by a cladding with a slightly lower refractive index. The light is continuously reflected back to the core until it reaches the end and can exit. Further layers serve only to protect the cable. The biggest advantage glass fibre has over the older copper wires is the substantially greater transmission rate – GB or TB per second – and the greater range. FOC duplex patch cable are primarily used in network technology. The are quick and easy to use and can be particularly compactly laid, making them ideal for shafts or tubes, for example.
