Flux assists with the soldering process and facilitates melting. Flux also removes oxides on the workpiece and prevents oxide formation during the soldering process. The surface tension produced by the liquid solder is reduced. The composition of the flux depends on the application in question. For electronics, for example, fluxes must not leave behind any corrosive materials. With practical packaging as a stick or a syringe, they are ready for immediate use and they can be applied precisely. This improves soldering results for fine-pitch and SMD applications.
