Encoding switches, also called coding switches, are used to select a certain transmission channel so that signals can be transmitted. The coding secures the channel so that it cannot be used for any other purpose. A rotary mechanism sets the switch to the desired phase. Coding switches are used in many fields of application, for instance in the automobile sector, the metal industry and the building industry. An everyday example is the remote control of garage doors. The switch for the remote control is set so that when the door is being opened no other signal can be transmitted.
