Current sensors

Current sensors

So-called current sensors can be used to monitor electrical and electronic consumers. The detection of the current value is performed in galvanic isolation. Depending on design, only AC or both DC and AC are detected. AC sensors take advantage of the inductivity of a current-carrying cable, which DC sensors require supply voltage. From the output, voltage for downstream electronics or measurement devices is made available. The range of applications extends from the evaluation of generators, drives, and welding power supplies to process technology to uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems. In automobiles, current sensors monitor the on-board electrical system. They report the measurement result through the on-board bus system directly to the displays or the on-board computer.
