Capacitors

Capacitors

A capacitor consists of two conductive surfaces facing each other. These are electrically isolated from each other and are generally separated by an intermediate insulating layer, the dielectric. This gives them the capability to store electrical energy, because it keeps the electrical charges apart. This electrical capacitance – expressed in Farad (F) – gives information about the storage capability of the capacitor. From a technical point of view, capacitors are DC consumers whilst they are being charged. When fully charged or discharging the same passive device is a voltage source. Therefore capacitors find applications wherever DC must be maintained or “smoothed”, DC must be split out from AC, or generally interference must be removed from circuits. This is particularly relevant to digital technology, for instance in computers. For your jobs too – no matter how special your requirements – at Bürklin Electronics we have the right capacitors for you.
