Discrete Semiconductor Devices

Discrete semiconductor devices are individual devices that are not available as part of an integrated circuit and, as semiconductors, have both conductive and insulating properties. The product group of discrete semiconductor components is very extensive; the most common types include diodes, transistors or rectifiers, which are all included in the Bürklin range.

What distinguishes discrete semiconductors most from other semiconductors is that they perform only a basic function. Their functionality usually depends on how they are arranged inside the device. For example, some semiconductors are designed to perform the function of two or more additional components. The space requirement on a circuit board can thus be reduced.

Semiconductors can be used in many ways, for example as switches or for power regulation.
